Steps

Yesterday on the way out I took the stairs. It dawned on me that the floor was much lower than where I was standing. But since there were steps from where I was standing to where I needed to go, it seemed like a rather simple thing.

We often struggle to work on larger projects. This morning was a good reminder of the value of steps.

I want to do a lot of things in my life but they all seem so distant. However, steps could be the way I thought.

A few interesting things about steps.

Firstly, while climbing or descending although we know where we would like to go, but at that moment we are looking only one step at a time. Once we see the one step we take it. Only then we focus on the next.  I was reminded of two principles – first know where you are going, second – focus on the one step you can take now and take it. Resist from worrying about the other steps. One step at a time.

A third thing about the steps is that they are equally divided till the destination. I guess I must also divide the steps of work needed to achieve the vision in equal chunks which can be managed bit by bit. This helps manage the work or project and also gives us those little milestones/landmarks we could celebrate on the way.
